Major John Pitcairn was ordered to steal colonist military supplies in Concord and the Patriots arrived to stop their raid. This was considered to be the first battle of the Revolution.
The militia took the high ground so the British couldn't get it. The militia didn't have that much also the British tried to conquer Bunker Hill 3 times and failed the first 2 times. On the 3rd attempt the Colony militia was defeated.

Washington troops had crossed the Delaware River on Christmas day to sneak up on the British/Hessian army. The Continental Army then defeated the British and they retreated to New York. The British starts to realize that the colonists were starting to become a threat.

Benedict Arnold staged a counterattack and surrounded the British and the British were forced to surrender. The American victories boosted the Americans confidence and convinced France that the Americans would win the war.
In the Continental Army there was no food for the soldiers and most of the soldiers did not have the correct gear for the winter. Also 1,000 soldiers were deserted.

Women ran farms shops and businesses during the revolution. Many woman had strong ideas about their liberty. Women traveled with troops as cooks,and nurses,and spies as maids and cooks for British officers. Also some women fought in battle disguised as men.
