- "Get your feet off my chair and shut your trap."
- “Who’s gonna make me huh? Your boyfriend?
- "You don't look old enough to be going to high school."
- "My names Sherri, but I'm called Cherry because of my hair. Cherry Valance"
- "I know. You're a cheerleader. We go to the same school."
- "I'll bet you think the Socs have it made. The rich kids, the West-side Socs. I'll tell you something Ponyboy, and it may come to a surprise. We have troubles you've never even heard of. You want to know something? Things are rough all over.
- "Ya'll sit up here with us. You can protect us."
- Cherry and Marcia both invited Johnny and Ponyboy to sit with them after they defended them from Dally. They started to become friends.
- "Okay, might as well."
- The boys also found out why the girls don't have a car. They found out that they came with their boyfriends, but walked out on them when they found out the brought drinks with them. Their boyfriends got angry and left.
- "I don't care if they did. It's not my idea of a good time to sit in a drive-in and watch people get drunk."
- "Okay, greasers, you've had it."
- "Hey, Two-Bit."
- Two-Bit had just arrived and started to make jokes about the boys while talking to Marcia. He then asks for popcorn, so Ponyboy and Cherry go to get some for Two-Bit.
- "Glory, Two-Bit, scare us to death."
- "I believe you. We'd better get back out there with the popcorn or else Two-Bit'll think I ran off with his money."
- He started to think about what Cherry said and realized that things are rough all over for anyone.
