  • "The lovely voices in ardor appealing over the water made me crave to listen, and I tried to say,'Untie me!..."
  • "My men all blanched against the gloom, our eyes were fixed upon that yawning mouth in fear of being devoured."
  • "The Scylla made her move whisking six of my best men from the ship."
  • Helios' Island and in extension his animals
  • "Driven by hunger...feast on Helios' cattle...threatens to stop shining the sun...Zeus sends down a lightning bolt to sink Odysseus' ship.  Odysseus alone survives."
  • After Odysseus' men had their fill Helios was angered and threatened to stop shining the sun.  To appease The Sun Titan Zeus destroyed his fleet and killed all his men.
  • We find a wild Odysseus floating alone in the sea after a devastating loss of everything. 
  •  "He [Odysseus] eventually drifts to Ogygia, the home of Calypso, who keeps him on her island for seven years."
