  • Title:Shooting an Elephant My Name: Cora GomboBlock: 6
  • Orwell was a British Policeman in Moulmein
  • Orwell was supposed to keep the town in check as the policeman but all the people ever did to him was trick him and be mean.
  • One day Orwell has to go and check out a call about an elephant that has gone mad. He takes a gun with him
  • He then notices children and women screaming. So he went over there and finds the elephant has killed someone.
  • Orwell new all to well not to shoot the elephant for it had calmed down. But, now that all the people where here watching him he must shoot the elephant because he does not want to look like a fool.
  • Lots of people gather to see what is happening as they saw Orwell had a gun. Then the people start shouting and getting excited for Orwell to shoot the elephant.
  • Afterward, Orwell felt significant guilt for what he had done. The owner of the elephant was angry, but what Orwell did was the law. He had to kill the elephant . Orwell thought to himself, thinking that he was glad that the elephant killed the man. Otherwise he would not have to kill the elephant under law, but the Moulmein people would probably make him.
  • Orwell shot the elephant twice, but he did not die until an hour later. Orwell really did not want the elephant to suffer. The people of Moulmein went over to the elephant with baskets and stripped it to the bone.
