Katherina is the oldest daughter who is rude to everyone but has a little sister named Bianca who everyone wishes to marry. Their father though will not Bianca get married off until Katherina gets married. Everyone tries to find a way through this problem. " A rich father, Baptista, has decided that his sweet young daughter, Bianca, cannot marry until his daughter, bad-tempered Katharina, is married first.
Bianca's suitors begin to try to find a husband for her. Lucentio makes a plan to become Bianca's tutor and sends his servant Tranio to pose as him when petitioning Baptista for Bianca's hand. Then a rich man named Petruchio is in need of a wife so Lucentio makes him chase after Katherina's hand. "I can, Petruchio, help thee to a wife with wealth enough, and young and beauteous. Her only fault is... she is curst and shrewd and forward.
Petruchio trying to marry Katrina acts kind with her even with her attitude. Katrina acts rude every interaction with Petruchio but he responds with kindness and flattery. Katrina finally agrees to marry Petruchio so his plan is finally in effect. " We have agreed so well together, that Sunday is the wedding day!"
Petruchio shows up at the wedding dressed ridiculously to make Katrina embarrassed. Katrina does not want to marry but when she was about to say no Petruchio interrupts her with a yes. Petruchio was finally about to tame her. " Petruchio, to show Katharina how silly it is to be rude, is coming to church in horrible looking wedding clothes."
Petruchio decides to refuse all things Katrina wants and needs to make her obey him. He would not give her food or clothing and disagreed with her until she finally agreed with his statement no matter what. "At Petruchio's country estate, he has more plans to tame his wildcat wife. First, he will not let her eat until she has better manners."
Petruchio challenges Lucentio and Hortensio to see who had the most obedient wife. When Lucentio and Hortensio both call out their wives they do not respond. When Petruchio calls for his wife she comes back with the other men's wife explaining how they should always listen to what their husband. "Thy husband is thy lord, thy life, thy keeper."
