  • The villagers gathered in the square while the kids piled the rocks.  Mr. Summers appeared with the black box and with the help of Mr Graves, he brought it up.
  • Climax
  • It wasn't fair
  • Mr. Summers is calling out the names of each head of a household so they can pick a piece of paper out of the box. Everybody is tense during this time.
  • Falling Action
  • Bill Hutchinson picked a paper out of the box, and it turns out to be the paper with the black dot, meaning somebody from his family must die.
  • Resolution
  • It isn't fair
  • After Bill Hutchinson, picked the paper with the black dot, his whole family now needs to pick a paper, it was Tessie's turn to go pick a paper. "It wasn't fair" Tessie said while her family went to pick slips of paper. 
  • After everyone from the family got up to get a paper it was Tessie's turn.  Everyone opened their slips of papers from the family except Tessie-she was not ready to find out her future. After Bill opened the paper for her, the black dot was revealed. 
  • "It isn't fair" Tessie Hutchinson Screaming while everyone is picking up the rocks or stones and starting to stone her to death.
