  • In the morning Covey notices that Douglass is not at the plantation and becomes a big, green ogre to hear that Douglass escaped. He is ready to make Douglass pay for his absence. During that time Douglass just came back to the plantation. before this, Sandy gave Douglass a "special feather" and said it would protect Douglass on his way back to the plantation. Douglass begs to the feather, "Oh feather, please help me. I wish not to suffer. " as Douglass walks back to the plantation.
  • *Crack* went the whip as Douglass walked in to the field. Covey demanded Douglass to come to here this instant. Douglass obeyed. Covey lifted his whip Douglass. When the whip charged at Douglass, he deflected the blow with his arm. This brought shock to most of the spectating slaves. o one has ever seen a slave fight back with such courage. Douglass ends up triumphing over Covey. Covey now he's that Douglass is not easy to break. Douglass has hope.
