  • Mildred, do you hear that growling sound at the door?
  • Mechanical hound scratching on door.
  • Hello Faber, how many copies of the bible exist? .....Faber: Is this a joke?

  • This is a very significant quote because now montag realizes that their society is just ignoring its problems and now one seems to care.
  • The bomber planes
  • "Again, Every hour so many damn things in the sky...why doesn't anyone talk about this?"
  • This is a very important scene in the story because it shows that montags old life was a state of numbness, he ignored it all this while. Him meeting Clarisse and Faber helps him to realize the numbness.
  • Why am I numb, What's happening to my body? Maybe it will soon go away.
  • On the train montag is trying to read the bible, but he gets discracted. He remembers when he was a child he tried to fill a sieve with sand and was unsuccessful. This makes him question himself. He is trying to gain knwoledge but his mind wont let him keep it. He is loosing his identity.
