Mildred, do you hear that growling sound at the door?
Mechanical hound scratching on door.
Hello Faber, how many copies of the bible exist? .....Faber: Is this a joke?
"I saw the damnedest snake in the world the other night, it was dead but it was alive." -Oxymoron quote
This is a very significant quote because now montag realizes that their society is just ignoring its problems and now one seems to care.
The bomber planes
"Again, Every hour so many damn things in the sky...why doesn't anyone talk about this?"
This is a very important scene in the story because it shows that montags old life was a state of numbness, he ignored it all this while. Him meeting Clarisse and Faber helps him to realize the numbness.
Why am I numb, What's happening to my body? Maybe it will soon go away.
On the train montag is trying to read the bible, but he gets discracted. He remembers when he was a child he tried to fill a sieve with sand and was unsuccessful. This makes him question himself. He is trying to gain knwoledge but his mind wont let him keep it. He is loosing his identity.
