Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • Tired darrling?
  • Yes, I'm tired.
  • Conflict
  • What is it, darling? What’s the matter?
  • This is going to be a bit of a shock to you, I’m afraid.
  • Rising Action
  • Don’t make supper for me. I’m going out.
  • In the exposition, we are introduced to the main character, Mary Maloney a pregnant woman and her husband Patrick. The story takes place in Mary's house, where both her and her husband are sitting in the living room drinking alcoholic beverages. Patrick acts a little stange and detached.
  • Climax
  • The conflict is when Patrick brings up the news that he is going to divorce Mary (although this isn't directly stated in the story, it is inferred from the characters' actions). Mary is horrified and in disbelief. Patrick knows it's a bad time considering she is pregnant but says that he is going to lend her money and make sure she is taken care of.
  • Falling Action
  • Whoever done it, they’re not going to be carrying a thing like that around with them longer than they need.
  • In the rising, Mary dosen't know whether what her husband said was true or not, so she heads downtstairs to grab something to cook for supper. The first thing she pulls out of the freezer is a leg of lamb. She carries the leg of lamb upstairs, and sees her husband at the window with his back to her.
  • Resolution
  • Probably right under our very noses. What you think, Jack?
  • The climax is when Mary kills her husband by swinging the big frozen leg of lamb as hard as she could on the back of her husband's head. She then puts the lamb in the oven.
  • So I’ve killed him.
  • In the falling action, Mary heads out to the grocery store to buy some potatoes and peas so it looks like she was just returning home from the grocer unaware that her husband had been killed. She calls the police who investigate the scene, and she acts heartbroken and shocked. They do not think Mary is a suspect.
  • Is he dead?
  • I’m afraid he is. What happened?
  • In the resolution of the story, Mary convices them to eat dinner at her house, saying they would be doing her a favour by eating the lamb. As they eat in the kitchen, the police officers talk to each other about the murder weapon, saying it's probably right under their noses. Mary, in the other room, starts giggling.
