  • The Cubans were rebelling against because Spain had control over them. The Spanish sent 150,000 troops with there best general Valeriano to put down the rebellion. Yellow journalism was newspapers that were exaggerated about the Cubans and Spanish which made people want America to do something about it.

  • President demanded 4 things from The Spanish on his last attempt of peace. The Spanish accepted all but one and that was Cuba would have independence.
  • After we wrecked the Spanish on December 1898, US signs a treaty with Spain. Spain recognizes Cuban independence and America gained territory.

  • After the Treaty of Paris American gained territory. They got Puerto Rico, Philippines and Guam.
