  • Stonewall Inn
  • Teens went to Stonewall to be themselves or because they were runaways needing a place to be at night
  • Gay men in New York protested the State Liquor Authority's policy by staging a "Sip-In" in 1966
  • Doctors would show pictures and movies of straight couples to try to "take the gay out" of homosexuals
  • The crowd had been peaceful, applauding those who were walking out of the Inn, before they realized that some of them were in handcuffs. After that, the first Stonewall Riot occurred.
  • Those who were at Stonewall or had friends and family at Stonewall at the time recollect their thoughts on it
  • The first pride march was on June 28, 1970, in New York, marking the first anniversary of the Stonewall riots. New laws were made as well as new organizations and other events.
