  • My name is Adolf Hitler. I was a German politician and leader of the Nazi Party. During my dictatorship from 1933 to 1945, I invited WWII in Europe when Germany invaded Poland in September 1939
  • In September 1941 German armies surrounded the Russian city of Leningrad. The Leningrad siege lasted 872 days. The Germans dropped more than 100,000 bombs and 200,000 shells and killed 200,000 citizens
  • The Battle of Stalingrad was the largest and bloodiest in the history of warfare.
  • 1942
  • By 1942, Hitler had begun the mass murder of European Jews - which became known as the Holocaust. Many of the Holocaust victims were killed in specially constructed gas chambers.
  • 1942
  • The war gave a strong impetus to the development of science and technology. For example, penicillin saved millions of soldiers' lives. The biggest lifesaver was blood transfusion.
  • 1945
  • On May 7, Germany was surrounded and May 8 became Victory in Europe. After 6 years of war, the world was at last at peace.
