- It was at night when Esperanza was sleeping and she used to dream of birthday songs, instead she was dreaming of nightmares. A big bear was chasing her, the bear was getting closer and closer and finally folding her tightly like her close to his arms.
- ”Esperanza” someone said and she opened her eyes. It was Mama who screamed and said “our house is on fire is on fire! Smoke entered the room. “Get up Esperanza! We must get abuelita” Mama said.
- Hortencia said “you should know that we have decided to go to the U.S.A”. Mama asked if she and Esperanza can go with her to the U.S.A.
