  • The compromise of 1850 was very controversial because it divided states by letting them vote for slave or free state called popular sovereignty.
  • Kansas Nebraska act
  • This law said that slaves didn't have the right to a jury trial also it made people help slave catchers catch runaways.The law increased the fine that you would gt if you interfered with the slaves.
  • Dred Scott decision
  • Uncle toms cabin is a anti-slavery novel that described the life of slaves and there owners it was written by Harriet Beecher Stowe.The book gained popularity throughout the years and was very inspiring to others and showed them how grateful they should be they don't have to go through it.
  • Lincoln and Douglas Act
  • The Kansas Nebraska Act let people in Kansas decide if they wanted to slavery or not in there territory.It was used to repeal the Missouri compromise.
  • The Dred Scott decision was a decision made by the court whether or not to let slave holders bring there slaves to western territory's.
  • The Lincoln and Douglas act was 7 debates 3 hours each to decide who would be the senator.Lincoln was anti-slavery and Douglas was pro-slavery and they were deciding who would be the best decision.
