Indians were forced to work in mines or sugar plantations to extract these resources.
The Spanish Empire starting extracting resources, including silver and sugar.
These native people had no resistance to diseases, so many died from small pox, measles, and other diseases. This was known as the Great Dying.
The Great Dying caused needed labor for plantations. Europeans needed people to work on their plantations. Africans were used as slaves because they had some resistance to disease.
The Colombian Exchange was created
The Colombian Exchange brought new food, resources, and ideas all around the world. This is the main reason why we eat the food we do today
