  • The doors are open, and the surfeited groomsDo mock their charge with snores. I have drugged their possets.

  • Lady Macbeth has drugged the guards drinks so that Macbeth can go kill the king. She is slowly getting more worried as she hears odd sounds.
  • But wherefore could i not pronunce "amen". I had most need of a blessing, and "amen" stuck in my throat.
  • These deeds must not be thought. After these ways. So it will make us mad.
  • Macbeth exits Duncan"s room with two bloody swords telling lady Macbeth that he has killed the king.

  • Macbeth is starting to question why he didn't ask god for a blessing and is getting worried if the guards woke up. Lady macbeth is trying to calm him down.
  • Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth that he shouldn't be concerned and that he needs to take the daggers back to the guards and smear the blood on them to cover up the murder.
  • Macbeth is too scared to go back and smear the blood. Therefore, lady macbeth takes charge and goes to do it herself.
