  • 5.73m
  • 1.49 meters
  • Opposite
  • X
  • Adjacent
  • 5.73m
  • 42 degrees
  • Hypotenuse
  • I used my clinometer to measure the angle of elevation.
  • X
  • Triangle Created
  • 42 degrees
  • I then used a tape measure to measure how far from the tree I was standing and the distance from my eyes to the floor
  • Tan ø= O/A Tan 42= x/5.73 5.73Tan42= X X= 5.159315174 Height of Tree= 5.159315174 + 1.49 Height of Tree= 6.649315174  = 6.6 meters to 1 decimal place
  • I then worked out which trigonometric ratio to use, Sine, Cosine, or Tan. It was tan
  • 6.6 meters
  • I then drew my triangle with the substituted numbers to find the height of the tree.
  • 5.73
  • I then completed the following calculation on my calculator to determine the height of the tree
  • Yay! We found the height of the tree!!!!
