Storyboard Text

  • Oh yeah, I nearly forgot.
  • Darko don’t forget to wash your hands because you went outside a while ago.
  • Good! I'll be going first.
  • I'll be washing my hands.
  • Is the coronavirus a living thing? I have to ask Achie.
  • Achie, is the coronavirus a living thing?
  • Why?
  • That’s an interesting question. It’s actually a non-living thing.
  • Viruses like coronavirus are non-living things because they do not grow. They also don't need to consume energy to survive, nor can they regulate their own temperature.
  • But they replicate. Isn’t that their way of growing?
  • I really thought that it was a living thing.
  • I know, right? It’s quite confusing.
  • Got it, Achie! Thank you for explaining.
  • Actually, they don't reproduce independently because they must replicate by invading living cells. Without a host cell, the virus simply can’t replicate.
