- Rona and the moon
- A beautiful woman named Rona lived with her husband and two sons and they all lived in a small kainga alongside the sea.
- POKOKOHUA
- Rona was loved by her husband, but her bad temper and anger sometimes got in the way and made her husband and sons upset.
- One day Rona's husband told her that him and the boys will go fishing with the men as the moon was perfect, he said that they won't be any later than tomorrow night so he told Rona to have a meal ready.
- The next day Rona began to prepare the meal for her family, it was getting dark and she could see her family coming back singing songs, when she realised that her gourds were empty. So she swept up her gourds and ran to get water.
- By the time she got there it was dark the full moon was shining, but then it suddenly went behind a cloud, Rona could not see a thing and stubbed her toe and injured her chin. Rona was so angry at the moon that she shouted "Pokohua"'boil your head'!
- The moon herd Rona and was very angry so he took Rona and lifted her up Rona held onto a tree, but it was no use the moon was too strong and pulled the tree up with Rona. Once her family cam back Ronna was in no sight until they looked up and saw their angry mother in the moon with the tree.
