  • It shows that george understands lennie. In this interaction we learn about George, that despite him sometimes loosing his temper, he has patience for lennie. George acts like a father figure than brotherly figure or a traveling partner. He also tries protecting Lennie.
  • The theme of this scene is ''sometimes people can be surrounded by others yet still feel so lonely".After Carlson shot Candy's dog , reality hit Candy because of his missing hand and he lost his only friend he had for years. This makes Candy lonely
  • This figurative language is a personification. "he stepped out of the door into the brilliant sunshine" (pg.28). This was too show just how bright the sun was at that point in time.
