Despite protestations from his soon to be wife, Hippolyta, Theseus gives Hermia three options: marry Demetrius as Egeus wants, die or become a nun. Hearing this, Hermia decides to escape from Athens with Lysander, her true love, however, Helena overhears this and tells Demetrius, hoping he will love her more.
After his and Titania's argument over the Indian boy, Oberon asks Puck to fetch a flower that has been struck by one of cupid's arrows so he can make a love potion to get back at Titania. Later, Oberon sees Helena arguing to Demetrius about how he doesn't love her back, Oberon is determined to fix this and when Puck gets back, asks him to put some of the potion in Demetrius's eyes.
The Mechanicals practiced their play until Puck turned Bottom's head into that of an ass, causing them to flee (except for Bottom). Titania then fell in love with bottom due to the potion Oberon had placed in her eyes.
While hunting to celebrate his wedding, Theseus and the others came across the lovers and since Demetrius now loves Helena, declares they can marry.
The newlyweds discuss the previous night's events before watching the mechanical's play, after which the fairies bless the marriages.
