Dally affects ponyboy by helping him escape with johnny after johnny murders Bob. When Johnny and Pony go to Dally, Dally directs them to "Hop the three-fifteen freight to Windrixville" to hide from the police (61). If Dally chose not to help Pony, johnny would have gotten in trouble but Johnny wouldn't have died, and then Pony might have stayed innocent.
Johnny affects Ponyboy by encouraging him to stay innocent and not become hardened and calloused like a real greaser. When Johnny was dying he tried to tell Pony not to become a greaser because of his death by saying "Stay gold Ponyboy"(148). Johnny was trying to convince Ponyboy to not become someone like Dally who loves no one and is eventually driven to suicide.
Darry affects Ponyboy by being protective of him and keeping out of trouble. Ponyboy is scared of Darry so he usually stays out of trouble though sometimes Darry is too strict with Ponyboy. When Ponyboy stayed out too late Darry got very angry at him and reacted. "Darry wheeled around and slapped me so hard that it knocked me against the door." This affects Ponyboy by driving him away to run with Johnny and affects the way he sees Darry and makes him think of Darry as even worse of a person.
