Cellular Respiration

Storyboard Text

  • Hey guys! Before we get started with today's workout you need to make sure you have all of your ATP
  • First, comes glycolysis. This process breaks down glucose into pyruvic acid. This process produces 2 ATP, 2 NADH, and 2 pyruvates with the help of pyruvic oxidation.

  • NADH
  • Next, the pyruvic acid moves into the Kreb's cycle. This helps make 2 more ATP but mostly produces NADH and FADH2 in the matrix.

  • But you didn't think that was it did you? Of course not we haven't even made a third of the 38 total ATP
  • Now there is the electron transport chain. Using the produced NADH and FADH2, electrons are sent down the electron transport chain in the inner membrane powering proton pumps which later powers ATP synthase.

  • Now, of course, that isn't everything. There is still the anaerobic system and more, but for now, it's all we have time for. Now, let's get to work!
