During photosynthesis ,the carbon atom travels through the cytoplasm. This process also requires light and chlorophyll.After it goes through a series of light dependent and light independent reactions there is a gas exchange and we get oxygen.

When the carbon is in the animal it travels to the mitochondria and through the cytoplasm and goes through 2 steps.It goes through glycolysis and krebs cycle.when the animal decomposes carbon is released.
After cellular respiration the carbon atom goes back into the atmosphere and repeats the process
