  • A look at some of the main events during the French Revolution
  • The revolution was kicked off when the Third Estate independently formed the National Assembly, without including King Louis XVI.
  • Declaration of the Rights of Man
  • One of the most famous peasant revolts, The Storming of The Bastille, happened on July 14th, 1789; when peasants attacked the fortress in an attempt to steal arms and ammunition from the prison.
  • After the Storming of the Bastille, the Great Fear began. This time was filled with more peasant revolts and violence.
  • The National Assembly established the Declaration of the Rights of Man which considered people as citizens and not subjects to a king.
  • King Louis XVI combined the white, blue and red to symbolize unity in France. The colors represent liberty, equality, and fraternity.
