  • 15-year old Azael Arevalo wakes up in juvie. With no recollection of being arrested, he tries his best to remember what he went through the night before. As if drinking a bottle of Jack and passing around a joint while driving wasn't dangerous enough. his gang, MS-13, finds themselves in a tumble.
  • curse word curse word curse word
  • They were after the people who called his friend's sister a tart, and it just so happened that another gang called the Crazy Crew were the culprits. Though they outnumbered Azael's gang by a sizeable amount, it was clear they've never truly dirtied their hands like MS-13. Arming themselves with bricks and chains, they fight until a flash of red interrupts his daydreaming.
  • whose blood is this oh wait it's mine
  • oh no I regret everything
  • After spending a few days getting adjusted to the cell and his cellmates, he finds it odd that he's not allowed a phone call or a lawyer. However, that becomes the least of his worries when a caseworker named Pakmin asks him to partake in an observation program. Azael declines at first, but Pakmin leaves him in the observation room regardless, saying that "Maybe something she says will ring a bell."
  • That was my bad
  • The person he was assigned to was Alexis Allen. Observing her interactions with authorities, cellmates, and family for days on end, he thinks her tough girl act is insufferable. Her disrespect towards her mother especially infuriates him, but after stealing her notebook he learns more about her motivations and sympathizes with her. However, that changes when Pakmin asks him what he did when he was still free.
  • Although he never understood his connection with Alexis, he pieced together the clues and remembered that she killed him. Towards the end of their rumble, she comes out with a double-bladed knife in her hand. Azael drops his weapon, refusing to continue until she leaves since he doesn't feel comfortable fighting girls. This only angers her, as she stabs him in the chest before realizing the weight of her actions.
  • At her trial, even though she was instructed by her lawyer on how to get a lighter sentence, she admits against their wishes that she was the perpetrator. The jurors would no doubt find her guilty, but her sincerity severely affected them and guaranteed her a more lenient sentence. Alexis' actions were irreversible when she grabbed the knife, but her tearful confession proved that it's never too late to chase the butterfly.
