  • The British government benefited from a trading status in India and adjusted import duties to undersell people in the colonies. The patriots interpreted it in a bad way and began to put pressure on the local merchants who would sell the tea.
  • On December 16, 1773, patriots disguised themselves as Native Americans, boarded 3 British ships and threw tea into the harbor during the night.
  • The Parliament now knows that Boston is the effective center of  resistance to the British law and the Coercive Acts were designed to punish Boston.
