  • The British decided to put taxes on things that the American colonies made like newspapers, playing cards, dice, almanacs, pamphlets, and legal documents.

  • The Stamp Act of 1765
  • WHEN?
  • The American Colonies got angry and 9 out of 13 of them decided to start the Stamp Act Congress which issued statement against the law and they boycotted taxed goods. The Sons of Liberty also organized mob protests.
  • WHY?
  • I feel like the Patriots were correct in this situation because Great Britain promised equal rights and that everyone would be equal yet they are putting control over the colonists. And the only way to express their feelings were protests and boycotts to get Great Britain's attention.
