The Influence of Etruscan Engineering
The Roman civilization flourished from about 700 B.C.E. to about 476 C.E. It began in the ancient city of Rome. Rome is located in Italy, which includes a peninsula and islands in southern Europe.
Etruscan influence of sports on the Romans
The myth about Romulus and Remus is about the King's servants took the twin babies with the cradle, late at night and put it in a river to drown. But before they drown they were caught in a cattail, a wolf saw them and the wolf took them to the cave that they lived in. Later in life they decided to leave the pack and go out in the open. One day, an old man had seen the the twins and stopped, he took the children back to town, met the mother and they lived with there parents again.
Greek influence of architecture on the Roman civilization
The Romans were excellent builders. Two important Etruscan structures the Romans adapted were the arch and the underground irrigation system invented by the Etruscans.
Greek influence of writing, art, and religion on the Romans
Romans also adapted two bloody Etruscan sporting events.The first was slave fighting. Etruscan spectators also enjoyed watching chariot races. Also, in Roman stadiums, thousands of slaves died fighting as gladiators.
Greek architecture was one of the many important influences on the Romans. The Romans used Greek designs in their own public buildings. Later on, they learned to use concrete to create even stronger, larger structures, such as the Pantheon in Rome.
Many Roman writers were inspired by Greek poetry and myths. Both the Etruscans and the Romans admired Greek pottery, painting, and sculpture. The Greeks worshipped a number of gods and goddesses. The Romans adapted many of the Greek gods as their own, but they gave them Roman names.
