When a Spartan baby was born they judged the child as fit or unfit. If unfit they were exposed or thrown off a mountain and if they were fit they were kept.

At age 7 they entered Schooling, military training and socialization. Known as the Agoge which emphasized duty, discipline and endurance.
At the Age of 7 after their education the spartan boys were sent out military training. Where they were taught how to fight and how to steal food to survive.
As young Spartans they were encouraged to beat up and steal from the slaves to prove that they were fit for military service. They also beat their slaves to prevent uprisings.
At the age of 20 the Spartan adults had to pass test n order to become a citizen of Sparta. If they failed the test they were never granted citizenship and were stuck in the middle class
As young adults the Spartans lived in barracks with other Spartans. Even if the men were married they still had to live in the barracks
