  • A long time ago, like a LONG TIME ago, plants and animals died off on the earth, and went deep into the ground.
  • FUN FACTS Oil makes gasoline and powers our cars!
  • Every year they grew closer and closer together deep in the earth and turned into coal, oil, and natural gas. The fossil fuels that we use today
  • This is coal, made from dead plants and animals, just like you saw in that last picture. I make this seem easy, but making these takes BILLIONS of year. Fossil fuels are non-renewable, so once they're gone, they're gone for good.
  • The End
  • Oil and natural gas are formed from hydrocarbons, which is an organic compound consisting entirely of hydrogen and carbon. They are made from the same things, but natural gas stuck around a little while longer, forming it into a gas form.
  • We use natural gas to heat our homes and cook on our stove. We also use it for electricity. Natural gas is the reason we can have our fancy houses.
  • FOSSIL FUELS ARE THE REASON THAT WE CAN HAVE THE GOOD LIVES WE HAVE!So make sure you do your part in keeping them for as long as we can!
