Unfortunately I was in a terrible car accident shortly after the fire which totaled my car and left me with some injuries, leaving me without a car to do work and in physical and mental pain.
Throughout my life, I accumulated many items I valued including rare electronics and music gear. I placed a huge amount of value in these objects and dedicated lots of time to finding and acquiring these things.
My life was changed forever when my apartment burned down along with everything I ever owned. Every single thing was lost in the fire. I was heartbroken and unsure if I would be able to live without my things that I have been accumulating since childhood.
After the fire, we were amazed by all of our friends and family reaching out to help us. My fiancé and I were able to get back on our feet quickly due to everyone's help. We are still in the process of gathering new stuff, but I have learned that I am just fine living with only the essentials and have at least partially gotten through my depression. There are still things we miss, but we are happy as long as we have our friends, family, and each other.
I was heartbroken about my stuff, and wanted to work as much as I could to make money to try and replace as much of the lost stuff as I could
I am very grateful to my fiancé for helping me through those rough times. I was able to get back to work with her help and encouragement, but still felt depressed.
Unable to work and with little other than the clothes on my back, I became very depressed.
