  • One right that a citizen has it to vote. Once you are 18 years of age or older in the United States you are eligible to vote in elections.

  • Another right a citizen has is that they can trial by jury. This means that if a citizen disagrees with something they can take it to the jury and try to go against it. 
  • Lastly, citizens also have the right and the freedom to pursue “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”. This quote is part of the United States Declaration of Independence.

  • One responsibility that a citizen has is to pay property taxes. Citizens pay taxes on their property or house, this money goes to multiple things such as police, firefighters, roadwork, etc.
  • Another responsibility that United States citizens have is that men have to sign up for the army draft. This is in case of a war that we don't have enough people to fight in, the government can pick people off the draft list to fight.

  • Lastly, citizens have the responsibility to respect the government. As a citizen if you respect the government, in return the government will protect you.
