"'...I'll make the crossing in my own ship...for they may be wild savages,lawless,or hospitable'"(Homer 71-75)
"...We saw a cavern yawning above the water,screened with laurel and many rams and goats." (Homer 82)
"'We Cyclopes care not a whistle for your thundering Zeus or all the Gods in bliss...'" (Homer 181)
Odysseus and his men end up at the Cyclops but before they enter the cavern, they observe from an island to see what their like.
"Now, by the Gods, I drove my big hand spike deep in the embers..." (Homer 283)
On the third day, Odysseus and his crew set out to the cave to find out if the Cyclops was a friend or a foe. Around them, they saw many rams and goats.
"He sent us into the open...Our fellows' faces shining..."(Homer 375-380)
When they are seen by this large creature Polyphemus, they are shocked to find out the Cyclops does not care about Greek tradition and eats some of his men.
"...Let him lose all companions, and return under strange sail to a bitter days at home" (Homer 451-452
Odysseus makes a plan to give him wine that makes him sleepy and stab him in the eye using a large Olive tree branch ound near the cave while he's sleeping.
When Polyphemus awakens, he is blind and can't see so Odysseus and his man strap themselves under the sheep so that when they are let out the men can escape safely
As they are about to leave, Odysseus makes fun of the Polyphemus because they out smarted him and this causes him to be very angry and he pleads a curse to his father Poseidon
