In the story, "The Cask of Amontillado," Monstressor seeks revenge on Fortunato for insulting him. This story takes place at a carnival in Italy. Montressor uses Fortunato's tragic flaw of pride to lead him to his death.
HAHAHA! This is what you get for insulting me!
Montressor brings Fortunato to his catacombs to taste his Amontillado. While this is happening, Fortunato is already intoxicated and he's not really aware of what is going on around him. Montressor plans to make him drunker, so it is easier to trap him.
Montressor traps and chains Fortunato to the walls of the catacombs. Fortunato starts to become sober, so he starts screaming, but Montressor ignores his screams.
Fortunato stops screaming and starts laughing. Montressor starts to feel doubtful of his actions that he was about to go through with.
Montressor struggles to finish sealing the wall in front of Fortunato, so nobody can find him. As Montressor was walking away, he hears the last jingle of Fortunato.
