August 26, 1993 was the day that started it all. My parents, Joseph & Jane became one.
Year to year , they started popping babies out! Yvonne was born in 1994, Michelle was born in 1999 , David was born in 2002, and I was born in 2005.
Growing up in Kenya was fun , but when it came to education ... it was a big question mark. Yvonne , Michelle, & David had already started going to school , but I remained home with my mom. At the time , Yvonne was already 16 and on her way to college , but my parents knew she and the rest of us couldn't continue on that way. It was time for change .
Sasa ? Mko Poa ?
My mother & father were both successful teachers, with my dad owning a Matatu business ... life couldn't get better. Yet everytime they were reminded of education , it use to irk their souls. So they decided to apply for a greencard
Habari Class ! (Hi--)
After months of waiting , my parents were called to the Kenyan Embassy. Their application was accepted !! Normally , it would take up to years and years of trying , but luckily my parents got it on their first try. They came back home bearing good news : America was our next destination. A few weeks later, we left for Louisiana.
The year of 2010 was when we arrived in America. The sight of people moving everywhere was confusing at first , but we got used to it. Luckily, my dad's friend accompanied us and guided us on living here.
