How will we ever get our way if we only get one vote?!?
The Third Estate gets Bamboozled
Free food in the hall!
But we're all starving!
The Three Estates of French society meet during the Estates General to discuss various matters. Although the first and second estate combined only make up 10% of the population, they both get one vote each.
To The Tennis Court
now that we're in this tennis court, time for an oath!
If we ever need to meet, Let's do it!
The Third Estate was very upset that they only got one vote, even though they made up 90% of the population.
The National Assembly
We should call ourselves the National Assembly.
After the Third Estate complained a lot, the king tricked them into getting locked out of the meeting hall.
Once the Third Estate was kicked out of the Estates General, they went to a royal tennis court and made the Tennis Court Oath, that stated they would meet whenever they needed to.
After creating their oath, the Third Estate decided to call themselves the National Assembly. The National Assembly would become a leading group of the Revolution.
