Storyboard Text

  •   Well, today is a very special day. Today was the anniversary of the school lockdown that happened at my old middle school last year. My friend and I (Savanna) are in the 9th grade now at a high school but we are are still shaken up about what happened. I remember it like it was yesterday...
  • Be back in 5 minutes
  • Mr. Gonzalez may I use the restroom please?
  • Mr. Gonzalez nodded his head and replied "Be back in 5 minutes". Savanna nodded and walked out of the classroom. After a couple minutes went by, our principal (Mr. Martin) went over the loud school speaker.
  • WAIT!!! Where's Savanna!!
  • Mr. Gonzalez told us to remain calm and said that Savanna will know what to do during the lockdown drill, but we did not listen to him. Instead everybody started to scream and holler all around the classroom! During that moment we heard banging on the classroom door.
  • It's ok just remain calm. I'll think of something.
  • I don't know if she's ok!
  • It was a rainy day in October and we were in Science class with our science teacher, Mr. Gonzalez. Of course, as usual, he was giving us one of his lectures about chemistry. Savanna's assigned seat was in the middle of the classroom and my assigned seat was right next to hers. "Mr. Gonzalez may I use the restroom please?" Savanna asked.
  • (Savanna Narrating) While I was washing my hands in the Bathroom that was when I heard the announcement on the speaker from our principal. I started to panic, so I washed my hands quickly, ran out of the bathroom, and sprinted in the hallway.
  • "Hey you! Come over here!"
  • "All teachers please make sure your students remain in the classroom immediately! We have a lockdown right now! This is not a drill!! I repeat this is not a drill!!" Everybody in the classroom started to panic. Mr. Gonzalez told us to remain seated for 1 minute so he can make sure no one is missing from the classroom.  That was when everybody in the classroom realized that Savanna was still in the bathroom during the lockdown drill. Everybody started to cry!
  • I started to run away but he was sprinting after me. I ended up hiding in the library under a table we he finally lost track of me. I kept telling myself I was going to be ok, but I knew deep, down, inside that I wasn't going to be ok. I was thinking about Bianca (My BFF).
  • Put that bat down or you will get arrested!!
  • At first, we thought it was Savanna but then we hear a man yelling on the other side of the door. The whole class was silent and frozen in fear. After 2 seconds everybody hid on one side of the classroom and waited thinking the man will go away but he didn't. I was thinking about Savanna. Is she ok? Does she know what to do? I had so many questions.
  • The officer arrested the man and another officer went to the loudspeaker of the school and announced that it was safe to exit the classrooms and building. Outside of the school, there were millions of students. We saw the man going into the police car with his hands handcuffed behind his back.
  • That was when I suddenly saw a man by the door of my classroom shouting and pounding on the door and stopped running to see what he was doing. He wore a mask and  he was clutching a heavy, matal, baseball bat in his hand. I gasped very loudly. Suddenly, he turned around and stared at me! "Hey you! Come over here!" he hollered with his scary eyes.
  • *Gasp*
  •  I heard the library door slam open and saw a shadow coming toward me. He whispered, "I see you." The man jumped and aimed the bat at me ready to hit me. "Put that bat down or you will get arrested" an officer was standing right behind him. The man got startled and dropped the bat on the floor. The officer smiled at me. "Are you ok?" the officer asked. I nodded with a nervous smile. I was ok.
  • I saw Bianca running toward me and she hugged me so tightly that I could hardly breathe. Within a few minutes, all of my friends started to hug me and asked me if I was ok. Till, this day my friend and I still talk about it. I will never forget the day that I was almost hit with a bat. Friday, October 13th, 1964 THE END
