Storyboard Text

  • Hi! It's Big Gail. I am here to teach y'all about cellular respiration.
  • To start off, cellular respiration is a way the body makes it's energy.
  • Cellular respiration is aerobic, which means it uses oxygen to carry out the task. We also need sugar to use cellular respiration.
  • 1.) Glycolysis This process is the splitting of sugars. It happens in the cytoplasm.
  • Steps to cellalar respiration
  • 2.) Krebs cycle This is when you strip hydrogen. This happens in the matrix mitochondria.
  • 3.) Electron transport This is when you make most of your ATP, which fuels the cell.
  • If there is no oxygen to carry out cellular respiration, your body has another way of creating energy. It is called fermentation.
  • There are 2 types of fermentation; alcoholic and lactic acid. This would be an example of lactic acid because it is taking place in the muscle cells.
  • After you finish running, you start breathing heavily. This is to make up for the "oxygen debt" you created by running.
