  • "Let's  start practicing how to paddle in the water!"
  • Salt Water in My Blood(rising action)
  • "Yay!"
  • The Downfall (conflict) 
  • Bethany Hamilton and her family live in a small town in Hawaii. She is homeschooled in a room in her house and her mom teaches her. pg.60
  • The Aftermath (climax)
  • "When can I surf again?"
  • Since her family lives right by the beach they always go surfing. Her mom and dad would always surf when they were younger. That is where she got the love for surfing. pg.19
  • Achiever (falling action)
  • ¨I DID IT!¨
  • Once Bethany got really good at surfing, she did it everyday of her life. She is now 13 years old and loves the ocean and surfing. It was all good until one day she went surfing with her BFF Alana and her family. They were out pretty far and all of a sudden a shark comes up and attacks Bethany's arm. pg.69

  • Once Bethany's friends got her to shore she went to the hospital. All of her family met her there and the doctor confirmed that she had lost her arm. She eventually healed up as fast as she could and all she wanted to do was surf again.  pg.105
  • Bethany went down to the beach because she wanted to try to get back in the ocean and surf.  She was very determined to stand up on that board with one hand. After a couple of tries, she used all of her might and stood up on the board. She achieved her goal! pg.181
  • Bethany´s family and friends were very proud of her. After she stood up on that board she has been on many shows, interviews, magazines, and her faith in God made her even stronger. She has been asked to do many competitions and almost everyone she has won. She may only have one arm, but that makes her strive to do things even more! pg.199
