  • hey Melba
  • On october 3rd , 1957 A boy ran up to melba with a small bottle and sprayed it in her face and it turned out to be acid. Danny ran over to her and rinsed her face with water and by him doing that he saved her eyesight.
  • This part of the story is important because it was the day Melba was born and she was born on a Pearl Harbor Day . This day has relevance because it's a National holiday and its her birthday. This scene themes family support and faith.
  • On December 17th, 1957 Minnijean got suspended because she spilled chili on two other students but they were also taunting her while she was in the cafeteria. After she got suspeneded the racist white people started saying a slogan of 1 nigger down 8 more to go.
  • im so sorry...
  • I told you she was a dumb nigger
  • I know Melba was scared for her and Danny because the dynamite could have killed her and i can understand how she felt because i have went through a near death experience. I believe this scene is important because Melba and Danny was targeted for being black and going to school with caucasian students. This scene has violence, racism in it because the person that threw the dynamite was trying to hurt them and they only did it because they were black.
  • September 3rd, 1957 Governor Faubus calla national guard to keep schools segregated he wanted black and white schools segregated he didn't want to integrate.
  • This scene is very important because Melba could have lost her eyesight do to the racist school she was in not only did they fail to protect her they also failed to protect her from being bullied . This scene has racism, violence and inequality because if a black person did what they boy did he would be killed or in jail.
  • September 4th,1957 it was the first day of integration. Melba prepared herself for her first day of school and she could believe what she was seeing. When she go there it was white people screaming horrible and ugly words. The white people didn't let the nine students get in the school.
  • This scene is important because she was wrongfully suspended because she was suspeneded for something that wasn't on purpose and it was inequality because if a white person did it they would not have got suspend and it was very racist of them to say one nigger down eight more to go.
  • This scene is important because the governor of Little Rock was very racist and i believe he was apart of white supremacy. This scene is important to know because Its shows how little the support was for the nine black students that was integrated into central high.
  • I know that this experience was scary for her and the other 8 students but i've never experienced something like that so i wouldn't know how to feel. This scene is important because it shows how racist they were and how dangerous it was to be black during this time. This theme shows inequality, racism, violence.
