  • Hopefully the Assyrians don't sneak up on us and attack us.
  •     In 2300 B.C.E., the Akkadians from Northern Mespotamia conquered the land. Sargon used political strategies to maintain control. Sargon and the Akkadians had created the world's 1st empire. Over time the Akkadian's language had replaced the Sumerian's Language. After 2000 years the Akkadian empire had fell to new rulers.

  • The Babylonian Empire thrived under the rule of Hammurabi. Trading helped the Babylonian economy . Babylonian society was peculiarly fair for its time. Babylonian women had more rights than many other ancient societies.

  • Rose to power in 900 B.C.E., where rulers were training an army. The greatest achievement the Assyrians accomplished was their weapons and war strategies. They believed that their kings were special beings. Assyrians artisans were known for their 2 dimensional sculptures called bas-reliefs. The Assyrian Empire lasted about 300 years.

  • After the fall of Nineveh the Babylonians took control of Mesopotamia again. The new empire's most famous king  was Nebuchadnezzar ll. He reigned from 605 to 561 B.C.E. He worked hard to restore the qualities the Babylonians rejoiced from. King Nebuchadnezzar rebuilt the city's ziggurates and built the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. which became  famous.  The Neo-Babylonian Empire lasted 75 years. 
  • He was known for his code of laws which he wrote durig his reign from 1792 to 1750 B.C.E. The code of laws was very detailed and covered many situations. 
  • Hammurabi's code was created when Babylonian King Hammurabi ruled. Laws were used during 1750 to 1686 B.C.E. They were the the first set of written laws. Everyone's punishment fit the crime. L The laws were placed on steeles.
