The theme of " The Monsters are Due on Maple Street " , a teleplay by Rod Serling, is don't be quick to blame because you can be jumping to conclusions based on fear or unreliable sources. On page 8 & 10, Mr.Goodman tries to start his car but it doesn't. Then he gets out and starts walking away and it starts all by itself. Don, another neighbor, thought it was suspicious that he didn't come out to see what flew over them outside. The women was blaming Goodman for coming out and looking up at the sky as if he was waiting for something, early in the morning. But he has insomnia which his a disease that causes you to have trouble sleeping. This shows that the women and Don and everyone else in the neighborhood was blaming him out of their own fear of him being an alien/monster because he looks up at the sky and his car started all by itself. In conclusion, you should not just blame people for what is going on out of your fear without having any evidence to back up your blame on that person.
One Summer evening...
There is a family here that is not human the aliens have sent them in form of a father, mother, and a boy and a girl.
The neighbors are chatting outside during a normal evening on Maple Street.
Nobody believes Tommy but then when he tells them about the family everybody starts to accuse people of things. Like when Mr. Goodman' s car started all by it self, and everybody started accusing him and his family of being the monsters.
The neighbors are trying to find what caused the power outage everything to stop working.
Charlie shot Pete Van Horn thinking that is was the monster out of his own fear. But then his excuse was, that he was just trying the keep his home safe. But in reality he was just scared.
The neighborhood looses control, and turns into an angry mob, smashing windows and grabbing weapons.
We finally zoom out and get to see aliens in a spaceship. They've set up this situation where they stop everything and see how they react and the aliens said, " Well, there are hundreds of other Maple Streets in the world. We will do it again, and again, and again.... "
