I just brought this bike from the store. If you want me to teach you how to ride one on the road safely, then read on. You will need a helmet that fits your head and is clipped on.
So you need to do some checks. You can check if your saddle is high enough by seeing if your feet are on the ground on your tip toes. Also check your brakes are working by holding your front breaks down and pushing the bike forward. If the back comes off the ground it's working. You can do the same with the back brake but you have to push the bike backwards.
Before you put your bike on the road you have to know these three things. Firstly, you need to check for a car, BEHIND AND INFRONT! Then you can put your bike on the road about a arms length away from the curb. Secondly, check again before you get on your bike. Lastly, you need to check before you pull off.
Just before you get to a junction you need to check behind you just incase there is a car. You also need to check to your left and right incase there is another car. If there aren't any cars you don't have to indicate. If there is a car then you need to indicate towards your direction.
STOP! If you see a parked car then you need to check behind you because a car could be about to go around you. Also there could be a car infront of you. In case there is then you could imagine there is a laser line from the parked cars tires coming towards and stop on the laser line. Then the car will go around you and the parked car.
If you are riding in the dark then you will NEED lights on the front (like headlights) and on the back. You will also need a high vis jacket.
