Curly is one example of survival of the fittest because she was trying to make friends and wolf/huskies thought that she was trying to fight them. Then they killed her. I think this is an example because it shows that Curly did not adapt quickly. It was Bucks first time seeing a fight. Then he realized if you are not that strong you will die, if you can't adapt fast enough you will die, and if you are not fast you will die, in genral all that means is survival of the fittest.
Buck and Spitz Big Fight
Food was major in the survival of the fittest. You get less when your in Klondike, then at home or where you were before youcame to this cold place. Also Buck was very hungry and tried to eat slowing, but the other dogs would steal Buck's food. When Buck and Spitz were fighting some wolfs/huskies came and tried to steal some food because they smelled food and they were hungry. Also, they did steal some food. In this picture Fancois is hitting the wolfs/huskies with a club because they were stealing food.
Trying to stay warm was kind of hard, knowing that there is no shelter. Buck soon found out how to sleep warm and actually comfortable at night. What he found out was that the dogs would make themsevles a tiny little hole that their body can fit in. The holes are tiny so they can keep their body heat in one place. They did this because Francois and Perrault would not let them in the tent.
Buck Kills A Bull
I am pretty sure Buck's and Spitz's fight is another example of survival of the fittest. I think that it is an example because only one could survive. They fought over a rabbit. They also already hate each other. Spitz was an experienced fight, Buck wasn't . Buck was the one who survived. In the start he was the one with a lot of bruises then Spitz. In the end he had he still had a lot of scratches then Spitz. That is another example of survival of the fittest.
Mercedes is an example of survival of the fittest because she couldn't adapt quickly. Also, she cries for nothing. Guess what she did she took all of the food out of the bag because aparently they had to travel light. She takes out the most important thing that keeps you alive. When Hans hits the dogs with the whip she goes to tell Hans not to do that and starts crying but in her head she is like hit them all you want. In this picture she is taking the food out of the bag she is crying like it said in the book, but she is not crying just because of the food she is crying because of the other thing that got taken out.
My last example of survival of the fittest is when Buck finds an bull he wants to fight/kill. I think this an example because you have to find your own food sometimes. Buck could have ate the food Jack Thornton gives him, but he gets a sudden urge to go and follow the call. On his way he meets a bull. First, he fights a calf then he wanted something bigger and he found the bull. The bull was the leader of I think about 14 moose. They fought for about 4 days (Buck and the bull). Buck wins the fight.
