Important founders of the colonies: JAMES OGLETHORPE (founder of Georgia), CECIL CALVERT, LORD BALTIMORE (established colony of maryland as a place for english catholics), ROGER WILLIAMS (founded Rhode Island), WILLIAM PENN (founded Pennsylvania)
A ROYAL COLONY was a colony controlled directly by the english king.
JONATHAN EDWARDS was a minister trying to get people to return to christianity. A QUAKER was a group that believed that they had a direct link with god. A PILGRIM was a person who takes a religious journey. A PURITAN was a group of people who wanted to purify the church of england. SEPERALIST were the opposite and they wanted to have a different church than the church of england.

TOLERATION is understanding that other people have the right to different opinions.
A CHARTER was a document that gave the ability to create a settlement.
ANNE HUTCHINSON was a puritan lady that disagreed with her puritan church and was banished from Massachusetts.
