  • Before Computers...
  • If only there was a way for us to communicate without having to walk 100 miles..
  • The First Generation of Computers (1940-1955)
  • Also, magnetic drums are being used to store data and memory.
  • The first generation of computers are powered by vacuum tubes. They are very big-they weigh about 154 pounds!
  • The Second Generation of Computers (1956-1964)
  • The computers today are powered by a transistor. They are more efficient then the vacuum tubes used before. Also they are a lot smaller in size and weight. 
  • The Third Generation of Computers (1964-1970)
  • The third generation of computers use integrated circuits for power.  This generation of computers are about 263 times faster then the first generation computers.
  • The Fourth Generation of Computers (1970-present)
  • The computers today known as the fourth generation, use microprocessors. They are about 210,000 times faster then the first generation computers. Over the years, they have gotten smaller in size and weight, but the overall way they are built is the same.
  • What Could be After the 4th Generation of Computers
  • The humans are now under control
