  • Wilson's Garage
  • Chapter 5: The Clock
  • "I could have sworn he was trembling. Involuntarily I glanced seaward- and distinguished nothing except a single green light.." (Fitzgerald 26) This represents his love for Daisy and that he hasn't forgotten about her or given up.
  • Chapter 7: Mrs.Wilson
  • ""I want to see you," said Tom intently. "Get on the next train." "All right." "I'll meet you by the news-stand on the lower level"" (Fitzgerald 30) This shows Tom cheating and the Valley of ashes being looked at as sin city or hell, and God looking down on them (Dr. TJ Eckelberg)
  • Chapter 8: Dr. T.J. Eckelberg
  • "Luckily the clock took this moment to tilt dangerously at the pressure of his head, whereupon he turned and caught it with trembling fingers"(Fitzgerald 91)This represents that Gatsby is running out of time with Daisy and that he needs to take this opportunity.

  • "A moment later she rushed out into the dusk, waving her hands and shouting; before he could move from his door the business was over"(Fitzgerald 144)This represents that Myrtle dies to materialism, we see this due to gatsby's car being expensive and one of a kind and her chase for materialism kills her. She also believed the car was Tom's which shows a whole other side of Myrtle.
  • Wilson's Garage

  • Jimmy Gatz Memorial..Gone but not forgotten..
  • "When I left his office the sky had turned dark and I got back to West Egg in a drizzle."(Fitzgerald 180)This shows the sadness within Gatsby even after his death.
