Stranger tells audience what she encountered: An African American being discriminated against and how the poll tax affected and impacted his life. Shows footage of camera.
Hm, I am hungry. I want an apple.
Oh no! I don'y have any money to pay for it!
A racist man is on street, thinking to himself how "savage" African Americans are. He laughs at his thoughts, and the audience can tell that he is racist only because of his thoughts and self comments.
Oh no! I do not have money! Damn the poll tax!
African American shows up, outraged that she has to pay simply to vote. Racist man tells her that she does not matter and should pay the tax because she is told to. African American gives up and enters the booth to vote.
That was bad, and it had a very negative impact. That is why the 24th amendment should be repealed.
After paying the poll tax and having voted, the African American leaves the booth. She desires something to eat, an apple, and she is really hungry. However, she realizes that she does not have any money left because she used it to pay the poll tax, so she cannot buy the simple apple.
The African American is sad and leaves because she cannot buy the apple. The poll tax prevented her from buying the food that she wanted/needed.
The screen goes back to the original stranger who was witnessing this and conveys that the 24 amendment should be repealed. The stranger shows sympathy towards the African American and how the tax to vote is wrong.
