Dear Mrs & Mr. Smith Xavier is doing exceptionally well academically in class, however I have a few concerns about his behavior towards his classmates. I am noticing Xavier being more and more disruptive and aggressive towards his classmates. I would love the opportunity to talk to you about his behavior and see what strategies work best for you at home. I have some ideas in mind, but I always appreciate parent feedback.
Thank you so much for meeting me! Xavier is such an intelligent student, and I enjoy having him in class. I am concerned about his behavior, because Xavier is disrupting others around him and being aggressive towards a few students in class. His behavior is disrupting others ability to learn. I have tried moving his seat and assigning behavior marks, but his behavior is getting worse. Are there any strategies that work in the home that we could try here in school?
Let's work together to develop a positive behavior plan for Xavier. He holds himself to high academic standards, and I plan the do the same with his behavior. I know Xavier can improve! Let's change the traditional discipline strategy and find something that Xavier is eager to work towards. Instead of losing privileges, Xavier can earn them. I would like to create both short and long term goals. Do you have any in mind?
Thank you so much for your input. We want to see Xavier be successful here at school. I enjoy his personality so much, and I really hope that we can work together to remedy this issue. I will keep you updated on his progress through an app called classdojo. Classdojo will allow me to send you immediate updates on Xavier's progress and behavior. He can also use this app to track his own goals. It provides a great visual for the students.
That's great Xavier! I just got an update from your teacher too. She said you had a great week, and I can see on the app that there were only a few issues. You have earned your video game time & your teacher has given you a positive behavior mark towards your field trip.
Yes! Mom, I hit my 80% goal on classdojo this week!
I'm so happy with Xavier's progress. He is only 4 points away from earning the field trip. Thank you for working with me to modify his behavior in class. There has been such a positive response from his classmates.
Thank you! It has been great being able to track his progress.
